Your recordings never leave your Mac.
What stays on your Mac
Audio, transcripts and names are files in folders on your Mac. Speech recognition runs on your Mac's Neural Engine.
What Koe doesn't do
Koe has no accounts and no crash reports.
What goes online
Koe uses the network for two things only:
- Speech models. Koe downloads them from Hugging Face (
huggingface.co) once, in the setup window or before the first transcription. The Vocabulary model is downloaded only if you fill in Vocabulary. - Updates. Once a day, Koe downloads a small file from GitHub (
github.com) that says what the latest version is. Nothing about you or your recordings is sent. GitHub, like any website, sees your IP address. Turn this off in Settings → General → Other → Check for updates automatically.
This website
This site sets no cookies. Its own small counter records visits, the countries and links they come from, and clicks on the download button. It doesn't store your IP address and can't recognize you from one day to the next. Like any website, it's served from a host that sees your IP address.
